Warren Zevon – Werewolves Of London

A quick one tonight and a classic. It was a rough night last night in the fourbearsjr house due to poorly children so was feeling pretty rough this morning. During my morning bathroom trip (no more detail to come I promise) I read part of an article about Warren Zevon, someone I have been into for a long time, and so I decided that I would listen to some of his stuff on the way to work to cheer me up.

I picked his second and third albums which are both excellent. When it came down to which track to pick I almost went for the immense lawyers guns and money, but in the end I had to go with the first Zevon track I ever heard, the tremendous Werewolves Of London.

An obvious track i know, but I bought this on 7″ when I was 13 and it still blows me away every time. I hated that awful kid rock track that sampled it.. The original is too good to mess with. It is basically 3 minutes of a tremendous groove, lovely double tracked guitar solo and great lyrics…I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at trader Vic’s, his hair was perfect..

The link is to the original video which is funny and really captures the kind of bloke Zevon was. A shame he has left us.
