On Tuesday I had a track all lined up but then decided to go for the Friends track. I thought that I would post the other track today, and I was going to post it up today, until the latest edition of Uncut music turned up at my house. I turned over the free cd and on it was a track from Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Hadn’t heard that name in a while and straight away thought about the tracks I had of theirs, which in turn made me think of an old 12” I have “Bell Bottoms”. It a great bit of garage blues in itself and also on the 12 is a good remix by Beck. But the one that stands out is the U.N.K.L.E. remix. Now, I was never a huge fan of U.N.K.L.E.’s work but this track is a beauty and I used to play it out regualrly. It barely resembles the original, only utilising some of the fine lines from the track and some guitar…but it is slowed right down, with a huge hip hop beat, great percussion, scratching and truly beautiful orchestration. It is an 8 minute monster actually and still sounds incredible now. Check it, and if you like it, pick it up from Amazon.
