We've all been off on our holidays for the last week or so, and with the best of intentions the posts have been few and far between, but we're back now, and i'm going to kick everything back off with a massive tune that i became reacquainted with over the weekend thanks to a Tama Sumo DJ set.
Omar S – The Shit Baby
In the world of Deep Tech House there are fewer names revered as much as Omar S. The Detroit producer has, for along time, been producing some off the most soulful and melodic house tracks you're likely to hear, and The Shit Baby is one of those.
Opening with those unmistakably harsh drums the track is a mesmerising ride into jazz and soul, a big walking bass line counterpointed with a simple piano riff that is slowly expanded and embellished so it never stands still for long and never gets repetitive despite being a track that can do some serious dance floor damage.
Past that it's pretty much as it sounds, deep winding and catchy as anything. It’s along time since I’d heard it and it was nice to hear that bubbling bass drift up in the mix….you can grab it on Beatport or courtesy of his very own FXHE Record Label.
