As i have said a few times, i have a long playlist of stuff to check out that goes back, in some cases, a few years. But lately i have been making a good go at getting to some of the older items and this brought me back to Midnight Magic. Brooklyn Based, they expert in slices of disco/electro tremendousness.
I think Beam Me Up is one of their first tracks from about 2010 and while many plump for the more uptempo house of the Jacques Renault remix, i think the original is the one. It is truer to its disco routes, the slower tempo just adds to the funk of it and really accents the amazing vocal from Tiffany Roth.
This morning i had this and a couple of their other tracks on repeat, but this one that got biggest bashing. You can’t beat sauntering along with this puppy blasting out of your headphones. It really is a great example of how new disco should be done. Amazing. If you like this kind of thing you should really pick up their other stuff.
