I've had a few days off this week, and with my boy at school and wife working i've been pretty much left to my own devices, meaning i've been catching up on some video editing and other projects i have outstanding…. so as such i have no commute, but since Fourbears Jr and myself have been one upping each other with classics this week, i've been delving into the hard drive and digging out some nuggets of funk, and when my playlist dropped this i just had to blog it:
The Jimmy Castor Bunch – It's Just Begun
This track is great because:
A: that groove
B: the chanted Chorus
C: that killer sax
D: that f*cking break….
it's just pure raw disco funk, it has everything in it, and Jimmy Castor forgoing his doo wop origins delivers his finest moment, even better than Troglodyte in my opinion.
I managed to find a live set of the JCB on soul which is below the main video…, but essentially it's one of those tracks that makes me think breakdancing, which is convenient because when i was trawling youtube for a video of it i stumbled upon this lovely video edit of classic break dance footage:
