I've been a bit absent without leave for the last week or so, so I wanted to come back with an absolutely killer track. Luckily I've been listening to some great music of late, and I decided to opt for Secret & Lies by Fort Romeau.
It's an interesting track that sits across a multitude of time periods, the late 80's early 90's Acid wig out of Aphex Twin, the snappy deep tech house drums of the early 90's – there are a world of reference points in there. A rolling lolling and looping melody backbones the track. Countered by the melody of the Acid line and Pad Chords but in true Fort Romeau style it all blends together in a smooth seamless fashion where many others combining these elements would drive the track in one direction or the other turning out a jarring snarling composition.
There isn't really much to write about that hasn’t already been said, the track speaks for itself. It came out a couple of months ago on the German label Live at Robert Johnson the EP also carries the superb Seventy Four (below) which was a bit more popular than Secrest & Lies and infinetl more laid back and 80’s in feel.
The EP is available both on a vinyl release and a Digital format from the usual outlets.
